Weโve recently completed a high-quality engineered wood flooring installation in Newcastle upon Tyne, following extensive subfloor preparation to ensure a stable, long-lasting finish.
The project began with the removal of the existing subfloor, which involved lifting and breaking out approximately 50mm of old screed using a concrete breaker. Once removed, the concrete base was mechanically ground down to create a clean, level surface ready for further treatment and preparation.
To protect the new flooring, a damp proof membrane was applied to the concrete, preventing moisture ingress and ensuring the engineered wood performs correctly over time. The floor was then prepared using a combination of screed and plywood, allowing us to achieve precise levels and a solid, smooth base suitable for engineered wood installation.
With the preparation complete, the engineered wood flooring was expertly installed, delivering a warm, natural look with excellent stability and durability.
